Porn Sex vs Real Sex: What’s the Difference?

Porn Sex vs Real Sex: What’s the Difference?

Is porn sex the same as real sex?

Porn shows sex is sex in all its wild, wonderful, and varied forms. It might not be a true reflection of reality, but it clearly shows fantasies that people want to watch.

Most people know that porn isn’t real life, just like Avengers, James Bond, and Disney is far from true. Does porn need to be true to life? We reckon it’s the same as any entertainment; sometimes it’s close to the real world and other times it’s pure escapism and neither is bad.

When there’s a helluva a lot of great, free porn videos out there, it can be tempting to think that all sex is porn sex. As a reminder of porn sex vs real sex, we’re going to look at:

  • How to content of porn and real sex is different
  • The parts of sex you don’t see on screen
  • Different body shapes you see in porn sex vs real sex

And we’ll finish up with our thoughts on porn and sex education.

Porn sex vs real sex: The big difference

The main difference between porn sex vs real sex is the type of action. Porn is there to fulfill a fantasy and to give people something that’s super stimulating, quickly.

Real sex isn’t always hot, steamy, kinky, fucking. In the bedroom – or wherever else you have sex – it can be many things:

  • Romantic and intimate
  • Functional, such as when two people are trying to conceive
  • Vanilla, when people want to satisfy urges
  • Gentle and loving
  • Exploratory or instructional for one or all participants

There is no one type of real sex, but most of these types of sex don’t feature too often in porn.

Real sex can be like porn sex if everyone involved wants it to be like that. There’s nothing wrong with people exploring fantasies and those fantasies emulate porn, then go for it.

Easy sex: Porn sex vs real sex

Have you ever had a repair guy come over and start licking your pussy within minutes? Walked in on your sister’s friend masturbating and just joined in?

If you have, you’re damn lucky!

In porn, sex is very accessible. Reality is usually different, with flirting, conversation, and it’s not quite so easy to find someone people willing to have quick and easy sex.

Not saying it doesn’t happen, but there’s a reason why easy scenarios appear in porn – that’s how people wish it was. It’s cool as a fantasy, and role-playing it with consenting people is fine, but in real life getting laid ain’t so easy.

Consent in porn sex and real sex

Consent in sex is super important. Before getting freaky with a partner, it’s important to establish consent and set boundaries.

In real sex, you need to be having conversations about:

  • The things you want to happen
  • Where your red lines are in sex
  • Contraception and safe sex practices
  • Safewords if you’re exploring things like spanking or BDSM

You rarely, if ever see these things happen when you watch porn. You can be sure that they do happen, it’s just off-camera. Sure, it’s going to be a thing that’ll turn some people on, but it’s not a mainstream fantasy to watch people choosing a safe word.

Off-screen mechanics of porn sex

Just like in real sex, there’s a lot of preparation that goes into porn sex that gets lost on the editing room floor. Anyone who’s ever done anal sex knows, lube is the most important thing, ever.

You don’t see it being used most of the time in porn, but before an anal scene starts, you’ll still notice a cut scene. When the camera comes back, the pussy and/or ass is shiny and has been lubed up.

Other preparations go into porn sex. When there’s going to be fisting involved, the hole taking the hand will have been prepped and stretched before, just like you need to do in real sex.

Measuring up porn sex vs real sex

Every man in porn has a huge dick. Or not, actually. Male porn performers are self-selecting so aren’t representative of the average man and the average dick – the men who start making porn know they’re bigger than most.

In porn, most men will have a dick that’s roughly 6.5 – 9 inches long or 16.5cm to 23cm. You might think this is because women like huge dicks. Some do, like size queens, but when asked most women go for 6.5 inches for a one-night stand and 6.3 inches for a relationship.

Here at SinParty we did a bit of an unscientific study and asked a couple of hundred women what they thought. The vast majority answered that they like medium-sized dicks or that they didn’t care at all, the orgasm was all that mattered.

One thing that porn producers will do to make dicks look bigger is to use smaller than average women. As well as playing to stereotypes of sexiness, a partner with a small mouth and hands will make a dick look bigger.

Fake boobs in porn

It’s not just about the dick when it comes to being larger than life in porn. There are a lot of fake boobs in the industry, too.

More power to the women who get implants. There’s nothing wrong at all with cosmetic surgery – we’re not here judging. There are more fake tits in porn than average, it’s just fact.

In the USA, around 8 women in every 1,000 have had boob implants. When we did a very basic check of the women in some of the most-viewed porn videos on SinParty, 10 out of 50 had had implants. To put that in the same terms, that’s about 200 in every 1,000 women.

Porn sex and real sex

Porn sex isn’t meant to be realistic. Few movies are – we want to watch things that are outside of the realms of our experience.

People will point to the fact that 24.5% of American men aged 18-24 say porn is a helpful source of sex education. No one is asking people to watch porn to learn about sex – if sex education in schools was better, those men wouldn’t need to watch fantasy sex to learn the basics.

Porn sex and real sex are different – it doesn’t make either worse, they’re just different.
