5 Sex and Porn Trends for 2022: What’ll You Be Watching?

5 Sex and Porn Trends for 2022: What’ll You Be Watching?

Porn trends for 2022

The porn we watch the sex we have is ever-changing. Sure, there are dicks, boobs, pussies, and a whole lot of orgasms, but how that happens evolves so we’re looking at the top sex porn trends for 2022.

The pandemic changed a lot of things – it even created a whole new genre of COVID porn. It’s responsible for a lot of changes, a plus the public’s general changing attitude and willingness to accept new and different things.

With that, we’re going to reach for our crystal dildo and dig into our predictions for porn trends and sex evolutions for the next year. We’ll look at:

  • Where you’ll watch porn
  • How you’ll pay for porn
  • The type of porn you’ll be watching
  • Who you’ll be watching porn and having sex with
  • The type of sex you’ll be having

Let’s hop into the future.

Porn Trend #1: OnlyFans will keep turning away from porn

Every porn creator and watcher saw the crazy situation that unfolded back in August 2021. OnlyFans, the biggest platform for porn watchers to connect directly with creators decided to ban adult content.

Just six days after the ban, on August 26, 2021, the paid-for social platform did a complete U-turn and decided to allow explicit content after all. All was well but it was a wake-up call for creators and users, though.

The site is already known to have a lot of restrictions when it comes to bondage and BDSM content. Recently, a change in the terms of service also increased restrictions on the content you can share to promote on the platform.

We predict that OnlyFans will continue to make it harder for porn creators on the platform. We reckon they’ll get more restrictive and creators will turn to sites like SinParty where we embrace porn and legal sex and kinks in all their forms.

Porn Trend #2: Cryptocurrency will become more common for payments

The last 12 months were tough for the adult industry. Along with the OnlyFans drama, Pornhub has payment processing from VISA and MasterCard pulled.

After controversy about illegal content on the site, the two biggest card payment companies refused to run payments on the second-biggest porn site on the internet. It’s not the first time that porn and payments have crossed paths – payment processing was also pulled from Fetlife back in 2017.

With all the controversy about sex and money, we predict that cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum will start to get used more in the sex industry. Porn-specific coins probably won’t take off, but being able to securely pay for your custom content or porn subscription with BTC will become more common – and easier.

Porn Trend #3: Hentai will continue to be hugely popular

Heard of hentai and not sure what the hell it is?

It’s a type of porn that originated in Japan and is all cartoon rather than live-action sex. You’ll find young women with huge tits and tiny waists, monumentally large dicks, and tentacle sex galore.

The number of people searching for hentai has been steadily growing, as you can see below.

It tends to appeal to Gen Z who have a tendency towards escapism and living life online – they’re less likely to want to see reality and prefer hentai. Or the reality of sex that porn offers, at least.

Our 2022 prediction is that hentai will continue to be one of the most searched-for porn categories and will still be more popular than staples like MILF and amateur porn. As a creator, you can capitalize on this trend by building hentai-themed cosplay into your content.

Porn Trend #4: Relationships will become more open

Polyamory and ethical non-monogamy (ENM) have been around for centuries – probably millennia. There are whole religions that endorse multiple people in marriages as long as there’s consent.

While there have been people sharing their partners and spouses for generations, it’s becoming much more common. There are apps targeted specifically at finding polyamorous partners and becoming throuples.

As the pandemic has forced couples to spend waaaaaay more time together, and probably have more sex, people have become more open to experiment. Those left on their own have been given a chance to explore their sexuality more.

According to dating app OK Cupid, in an analysis of the millions of profiles on the site words like throuple and non-monogamy have increased 21% in the last year. Accounts listed as looking for a non-monogamous relationship have jumped 7% in the same time.

Non-monogamy is so mainstream, even Hollywood power couple Jada Pinkett-Smith and her husband Will Smith have settled on an open marriage. More power to them for being open and honest with each other and the rest of the world.

In 2022, we foresee more people getting experimental with their partnerships and folks they have sex with. As the pandemic hopefully comes to a close, there’ll be more sex and more sexual partners as people start to value connection over social rules.

Porn Trend #5: Kink and BDSM head for the mainstream

In the same vein as the previous porn trend, people are getting kinkier. Being locked down for the best part of the last two years has led to people exploring a wider range of sex and porn.

There’s a nearly limitless range of kinks and fetishes and the whole internet available for people to learn about them and try them out. There’s been little else to do…

Take shibari, for example. It’s a form of Japanese rope bondage that uses elaborate knots to tie a person up.

It’s visually stunning and can be a highly sexual experience for the person being tied as well as the person creating the knots.

Check out how popular it’s become over the last five years – this is how often it’s been searched for and it’s definitely gaining popularity, and fast.

Our final porn prediction for 2022 is that kinks will become more popular and searched for more often. The porn you watch and the content you make will be more fetish-focused and specialized.
