The female orgasm
There has been a myth about the female orgasm that it somehow is elusive, hard to find, a thing few people ever discover.
How true is that? How often do women orgasm and how can you make sure it happens more frequently? With so many stories and half-truths about the female orgasm, we decided to dig into the details and learn about how women cum.
To get to the bottom of how common the female orgasm is, we’re going to look at:
- Where the female orgasm comes from
- How often women cum during sex and masturbation
- Ways to boost the chances of a female orgasm
Which is all super useful information.
How do you give a woman an orgasm?
The clitoris is the absolute, number one, most important part of the female orgasm. It’s the only part of the body – man or woman – that is only there for pleasure.
What pleasure it brings, too.
The clit has a whole bunch of nerve endings which, when stimulated feel awesome. The main part of the clitoris that we all know, and love, is what we call:
- The bean
- The man in a boat
- The love button
It’s the smallish hooded thing that’s just above where the pee comes from.
This is what we all know is the clit, but there’s more to it – tucked away down to the labia and sitting around the vagina, which is likely how penis-in-vagina sex produces an orgasm.
This organ, this little collection of flesh and nerves, is where you’ll find the female orgasm.
How often do women cum?
Recent numbers suggest that a women will have an orgasm 95% of the time when she’s masturbating solo. During other scenarios, the number stack up like this:
- Roughly 21-30% of women will cum through penis-in-vagina penetration, with no clit action involved
- Asked about “intercourse in general”, which was down to the woman’s interpretation about clitoral and vaginal excitement, 31-40% of women got an orgasm
- When the clit gets stimulated during penetrative sex, that number shoots up to orgasms 51-60% women receiving an orgasm
See how important the clit it?
Interestingly, in the same survey by the Kinsey Institute, men were asked how often they think they could make a woman cum. The men said they thought…
- They gave a woman an orgasm 41-50% of the time when it was just their dick doing the work
- Women cum 61-70% of the time when dick action is paired with some clit play
We’ve got some great actors out there, clearly.
When does the female orgasm happen the most?
The sure-fire way for a woman to cum is through masturbation.
When asked, women say that a whopping 95% of the time they masturbate, they cum. Look at that number again – clearly women know how to give themselves please.
Another interesting nugget in the same study tells us that when women hook up with another woman for the first time, 64% will have an orgasm.
What does that number look like when women hook up with men for the first time? Ready for this, male readers out there?
7%
When a woman first has sex with a man, it’ll only produce an orgasm 7% of the time. Someone told these guy that first impressions count, right?
How do I make a woman cum?
There’s no one secret way that will guarantee a woman is going to orgasm every single time. What you can do is boost your changes significantly.
Clearly, the clitoris is at the center of it all. Ask any woman and she’ll tell you orgasms require the clit, at least the vast majority of the time.
To underline this point, in the same study we just looked at, we find that when a woman masturbates herself to orgasm, less than one percent of the time will she only use penetration. The clit is involved more than 99% of the time.
If there’s not clitoris action, there’s probably not going to be a female orgasm.
Techniques to produce a female orgasm
We now know that a dick alone isn’t likely to take a woman to ecstasy, so what’s the secret?
The secret is, there isn’t one. Every woman is different, so there needs to be open communication about what she likes and doesn’t like.
There are things you can try, like:
- Fingering – using fingers to play with the clit is a great way to give a woman an orgasm. Communication can be easier since you can still be face-to-face and you can really direct your action to where she says she likes it.
- Oral – 53% of women say that they cum when their partner licks their pussy, yet only 40% of women get oral from their partner. If you want to help give a woman an orgasm, get down there and lick! Ask her to tell you what’s working whilst your mouth is otherwise engaged.
- Sex toys – there are thousands of sex toys out there that have lots of innovative way to bring about a female orgasm – use them. Sex toys can be used before, during, or after penetration, in any way you and your partner like, and will increase chances of an orgasm.
The female orgasm
There’s clearly a disconnect between how often women cum and how often men think they cum. Whilst an orgasm doesn’t have to be the end goal of sex every single time, it’s damn nice when it happens and women deserve more orgasms!
You can never guarantee you’ll make a woman cum, especially the first time you hook up, it would seem. However, less dick and more hands, mouths, tongue, and toys will all boost the chances that your female sexual partner is going to wide them waves of joy.
If you get lucky and hone a technique, you can even start to look at multiple orgasms, which are a whole other ball game.
